It isthe forty-second anniversary, or rather commemoration of the first overthrow of the APC government and the introduction of the Military in the politics and governance of the state by the SLPP. The moments 17th - 23rd March 1967 are worth recalling at this particular time of our country's political history. I could very well remember when my late father chief Mucktarru-Kallay visited me in the USA and gave me a parcel of documents, I later realized was a diary of the events leading to the 1967 coup and its aftermath on the political development of the country.

President Koroma Swears In New Ministers |

At a brief ceremony at State House past friday, President Ernest Bai Koroma told the new ministers in his cabinet that they are coming in at a time when much talking is not needed, but this is "a time to deliver." "We have been in office for over a year and half, and the public expects us to fulfill our promises," he declared. Addressing the ministers and deputy ministers at two separate but similar ceremonies respectively, President Koroma entreated them to have a thorough study of his ‘Agenda for Change' programme, which is a second generation of the PRSP, which shows the direction the government is taking in a bid to develop Sierra Leone.

Following a lead story published in the We Yone of Friday March 20th 2009 headlined "Alleged Rape Is A Mere Fabrication - Medico Disclose" We Yone has been inundated with sentimental, rather than logical and patriotic, reactions from a certain group of women who purport to represent the interest of the Sierra Leonean womenfolk but who then could best be described as having an estranged relationship with the bulk of the disadvantaged and marginalized grassroot women of this country living in the slums of Kroobay and Looking Town, painfully tilling the land in the remote villages of Koinadugu and Kailahun and enduring the heat of the sun as they hawk their wares to eke a living. We Yone unequivocally assert that the allegation of rape is a mere fabrication by the opposition SLPP to water down the credibility of the APC and the goodwill that exists between the party and the womenfolk of this country.

The National Secretary General of the All Peoples Congress comrade Victor Bockarie Foh has yesterday during a stakeholders meeting of all political parties, civil society organisation, donors and law enforcement agencies, on behalf of the leadership and rank and file of the party, affirm that despite the recent fracas between the two main political parties which he further assured the meeting that the party will leave no stone unturned to bring to book the perpetrators, the party still holds in high esteem the National Electoral Commission and other stake holders in the democratic process.
