In a colourful ceremony to celebrate the commissioning of three samples of solar lights donated by the Global Support Group (SL) Ltd to the people of at the Mile 91, Tonkolili District, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources Hon. Martin Alex Bash-Kamara explained that President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is in full gear and more than desperate to fast track the development pace of the country.
Hon. Bash Kamara said the President is convinced that development can only be achieved with the provision of a permanent and reliable electricity supply throughout the country. He said President Koroma has vowed not to rest until he gives the people of Sierra Leone electricity as promised in his election manifesto. Hon. Bash-Kamara referred to the samples of solar light for the Mile 91 community as just the beginning, and if handle well more will follow. He said the solar lights will not only go to the Mile 91 community, but the country at large will soon start to benefit from them. Ho. Bash-Kamara however advised the people to provide the necessary security to upkeep these solar lights which he said have a guarantee period of over 20 years. Hon. Bash-Kamara added that the solar lights were typically designed by three countries-Turkey, Switzerland and Italy for developing countries like Sierra Leone where the use of fuel is very expensive, stressing that the solar light do not need fuel to generate electricity. He concluded by saying that as long as the APC sun keeps rising, the solar lights will use the APC solar energy to generate electricity for the people of Mile 91. He said these solar lights would very soon be followed by a healthy and quality water system for the people of Mile 91. The Minister of Mineral Resources and Presidential affairs who was on his way to witness the PMDC convention bashed in and said, the APC government under the leadership of President Koroma intends to move this nation from darkness, underdevelopment and decadence to a bright and prosperous nation where everybody the world over would like to come. Hon. Kanu said with Bumbuna, the whole nation will not only be in light but investors and comfortable life style will be prevalent. Mr. Mohamed Akar Koroma thanked the initiators especially the Managing Director of the Global Support Group who happens to be a son of the soil, and asked the audience to emulate his examples. Mr. Koroma said the idea to locate the solar lights to Mile 91 is in line with the President's desire to electrify the rural areas. The Section Chief of Ngedema Section, Pa Alimamy Koroma advised that now that politics is over everybody must team up with the President to bring and protect positive development in Sierra Leone by any lawful means necessary.
