The 2018 Presidential Flagbearer of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party, Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara over the weekend disclosed to this medium that he will not allow any person or group of persons to destroy his credentials which he has built for the past forty years for the sake of politics.
He made this statement while reacting to an indictment from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in relation to the Sierra Leone Chancery Building in New York (United States of America), which many respected citizens consider as, “political charges by SLPP to frustrate the presidential ambition of the popular APC aspirant”.
“Let me reassure the public that I do believe in independent and
credible institutions,” he disclosed, adding he has served forty years in the public service with an unblemished character which has never been questioned both at national and international levels.
He further called on the general public including his supporters from across the country to exercise patience and be law abiding, while assuring them that he is in good spirit and looking forward to leading the APC come party as the presidential candidate.
“My legal representatives are now studying the indictment and I am working very closely with the team to continue to clear my name,” he noted.
According to the ACC, Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara is charged with one count of deceiving a principal and one count of misappropriation of public funds amounting to two million, five hundred and sixty thousand United States Dollars (U$$2,560,000) meant for the reconstruction of the Sierra Leone Chancery Building in New York, USA and according to ACC all the accused persons will be arraigned before Justice Adrian Fisher on the 10th December, 2021.
In another development, Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara together with his team visited the Connaught and 34 Military Hospitals and donated food items worth millions of Leones to the hospitalized victims.
According to report reaching We Yone, he decided to do such donation to demonstrate sympathy and empathy to the fire disaster victims.
Before distributing the items, he started by consoling the victims and admonished them to be spirited and be hopeful as all is not lost.
“We will continue to pray for you for a speedy recovery, and also for those that have passed away as a result of the devastating occurrence,” he stated, adding our hearts are with you and your families.
He also thanked the medical personnel and commended them for their tireless, diligent and selfless sacrifice they are offering to the victims especially for their effort in working round the clock in ensuring that the victims are aptly taking care of.
