APC MPs Donate to wellington fire victims

Members of Parliament of the All Peoples Congress in Constituency 114 and Constituency 115 on Friday 19th November 2021 jointly donated relief items to the November 5th 2021 Wellington fire victims and their survivors at Old Wharf. Honourable Unpha Sorie Koroma of Constituency 114 and Honourable Amadu Bah Esq. of Constituency 115 respectively extended condolences to the bereaved families and asked them to mourn like believers because the fire accident, which they said, snatched the lives of their compatriots was a will of God.

They said that the items are not to compensate for the lives lost, but to cushion the sorrow and grief they are facing at the moment. They revealed some of the relief items were donations from Sierra Leone Brewery Ltd and that they are calling on other corporate entities within the Wellington Industrial Estate to come to aid of their constituents, as this is a tragic moment in these constituencies affected the entire nation. Hon. Amadu Bah Esq said since the aftermath of the fire disaster, he and Hon. Unpha have been working together to show solidarity, support and mourn with their constituents. The APC MPs added that to date, they are still visiting the homes of the affected and afflicted, pleading to the recipients to demonstrate patience, as they would ensure a fair and equitable distribution of the food supplies.

Speaking to Chief Pa Alimamy Koroma in the Old Wharf community, he said as a community they are sad about the tragedy they are faced with. He thanked the Hon. MPs Unpha Sorie Koroma and Amadu Bah for their support and solidarity. He also thanked the APC executive for their intervention during this sad moment. Speaking to the beneficiaries of the relief items, Tamba Moses, Chairman for Old Wharf Bike Riders said that the union is badly affected, as most of the victims were bike riders. He said, “I feel relieved that the APC MPs were the first to sympathize with us”. He said that they appreciated the relief items and that it will cushion the livelihood of the fire victims’/survivors.
