
In continuation to his developmental strides within Ward 426 Constituency 123 Western Urban, Councillor Ibrahim Sorie Conteh aka ‘Area Best’ over the weekend with support from the youths started paving the street leading to the Fire Stone Community Primary School, Adams Street in Freetown. ‘’I have lived in the Fullah Town community for the past 30 years, and serving as councillor since 2018 to date,’’ he stated, adding before he was elected as a councillor with APC ticket, he was managing a football team called ‘Area Best.’
Speaking to We Yone, comrade Conteh said he has decided to undertake such exercise because the children are experiencing much difficulty when going to school due to the deplorable condition of the road. ‘’I am the only person presently embarking on the exercise and the total estimate for the entire work is over 200 million leones,’’ he noted, while appealing to community stakeholders and other well-meaning citizens to come onboard to support the programme.
He further disclosed to this medium, since he became councilor, he has embarked on several developmental activities such as: clearing and cleaning of the gutter from Fire Stone to the Mountain Cut bridge with support from Her Worship the Mayor, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer in order to prevent the usual flooding that used to occur during the rainy season, placement of 2 water tanks 5000 and 10,000 ml for the residents at Bamroad and Tebenu communities, respectively, at the Hill Top community in order to help them solve water problem, reconstruction of two streets within Ward 426 namely Peter and Fullah streets; rehabilitated the entire Fire Stone Community Primary School when some parts of the structure were damaged by flooding, amongst other self-help projects.
The Engineer for the work, Saidu Conteh said the total cost for the project is over 200 million Leones and promised to deliver the best and commended Councillor Conteh for single handedly financing the project. Several statements were made by various stakeholders including Ibrahim Sorie Dumbuya who happens to be the youth leader and Mabinty Kandeh showering praises on the councillor while assuring him that come 2022 they will re-elect him to Council.
