On Sunday 28th April, 2024, Tonkolili-based Golden Dragon won the 14th edition of the Ernest Bai Koroma Trophy by 1-0 against the host, Ocean Boys of Makeni, Bombali district.

The EBK Trophy was an initiative born out of the love of football and the zest to bring young people together.

Aligning it to his former boss, erstwhile president of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, who was crowned as ‘Messi’ by the young people of Sierra Leone, fourteen years ago, the right Honourable Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, established the EBK Trophy.

The competition is played annually at the Wusum field, Makeni, in Bombali District, North Sierra Leone.

The 2023 presidential running-mate of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party,  Honorable Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, said the 14th edition is an indication of his commitment alongside other organizers, to sustain the legacy of the former president who is currently out of Sierra Leone for medical.

The EBK Trophy is a nonpartisan football competition strictly to honor a president who did exceptionally well for Sierra Leone, the former MP affirmed.

The EBK Trophy is a monumental asset that belongs to the people of Sierra Leone and it is beyond partisan politics.

The winners, Golden Dragon, will take home Le 35, 000,000, and the runners-up, Ocean Boys with Le 20,000,000.
